Mahatma Gandhi’s advice to Hitler

An open letter to Hitler by Mahatma Gandhi, urging him to avoid the war and suffering that seemed inevitable at the time leading up to World War II.

HERR HITLER,
BERLIN,
GERMANY
DEAR FRIEND,
Friends have been urging me to write to you for the sake of humanity. But I have resisted their request, because of the feeling that any letter from me would be an impertinence. Something tells me that I must not calculate and that I must make my appeal for whatever it may be worth.
It is quite clear that you are today the one person in the world who can prevent a war which may reduce humanity to a savage state. Must you pay that price for an object however worthy it may appear to you to be? Will you listen to the appeal of one who has deliberately shunned the method of war not without considerable success? Any way I anticipate your forgiveness, if I have erred in writing to you.
I remain,
Your sincere friend,
M. K. Gandhi

An Open Letter to My Favorite Teacher

A letter by Jordan Boles, 2015.

To my very favorite teacher,

It’s funny how large of an impression our instructors can leave upon our lives. Sure, you taught me facts, you taught me how to study, and you taught me how to stay organized. However, you also taught me other, much more important things. You taught me to love learning. You never gave up on me, or my classmates, regardless of how frustrating we could be. You always took a deep breath and pushed forward because you knew that one day the work you did would make a difference.
